The Joali Maldives, a 5-star resort located on Muravandhoo island in the Maldivian archipelago offers a totally surrounded by nature experience. Autoban, a well-known architecture and design studio based in Istanbul, specialized in Hotel design, carried out the design.
Built with local craft materials and techniques, the Joali -according to what is claimed by its authors- creates a harmonious interaction between architectural forms and natural outdoor environments. Joali’s design does not interrupt the magical balance of the landscape, but on the contrary it is inserted into it, enriching the environment and becoming an integral part of it. Joali includes 73 luxury villas and private residences located on the beach and over- the-water.
Every element is cared for to the minimum detail such as ebony doors and fans in the shape of frangipani flowers. The structure also features a Spa, a Fitness Centerand 4 restaurants including the Vandhoo with its original menu that proposes flavours from Southeast Asia, China and the Mediterranean. Set between the ocean and lush vegetation, the Joali also organizes activities such as snorkeling with manta rays, visits to the underwater museum, wakeboarding, excursions with Maldivian dhoni and meetings with local communities to explore indigenous art and culture.
