A classic by Shiro Kuramata in Limited Edition

After almost 40 years from his birth, a new limited edition version of “Sofa with arms” by Shiro Kuramata. A must have for all design addicts.

A real iconic piece of design made in 1982 by Shiro Kuramata, Japanese designer among the most representative ones of the 20th Century, is being talked about again. We are referring to “Sofa with arms”, that Cappellini will relaunch on the market in limited edition. “Sofa with arms Black edition” is the title of the new collection which includes 132 pieces overall, 33 for each of the 4 colors the project is made of.

Designed as a homage to early 20th Century Modernism for fashion designer Issey Miyake’s showroom and offices, this new version of the armchair interprets contemporary trends and becomes the perfect piece of furniture for the most sophisticated houses. The structure of the sofa is made of tubular metal in its anthracite version, with a multi-density padded polyurethane seat and an internal structure in poplar plywood. The cylindrical seatback has the same polyurethane padding, while the internal structure is made of fir and MDF. It comes with velvet upholstery in four colors: blue, green, fuchsia or golden yellow.
