A Taste of Italy in Hong Kong

Writer

With the opening of Spiga the great Italian culinary tradition is at home in Hong Kong.

Enrico Bartolini, an enfant prodige who has received 4 Michelin stars, has opened his fifth restaurant after those in Milan, Bergamo, Castiglione della Pescaia and Venice. It is located in the heart of Central, at 31 Queens Road and designed by Joyce Wang, who despite her young age has received numerous recognitions for her work.
The design is characterized by a 1950’s style, created through the use of vintage items, symbols of the Italian lifestyle and through various topographic cues, from the streets of Rome all the way to Milan’s metro. 130 seats available (plus those outdoors) in an area of 650 square meters, divided into various spaces, each of which extremely cared for from a stylistic point of view.
It is futile to point out that the food is excellent. Chef Bartolini is renowned for his truly authentic Italian cuisine and for his traditional dishes using innovative techniques and here supported by Head Chef Giuseppe Carlucci he is even more unique. It is a pleasure to taste the real and true classics of the Italian tradition such as the “Osso Buco” or the “Vitello Tonnato”.
