The rich and intense exhibition invites the visitors to discover the Maison founder’s universe, his passion for art (especially Art Nouveau, of which Monsieur Dior was a collector) and the Maison’s creative directors who came after him: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and recently Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Throughout the exhibition more than 300 haute couture gowns designed from 1947 to the present day, are displayed alternated by photographs, reportages, illustrations, original documents, fashion items (hats, bijoux, handbags), embroidery croquis, fashion show video clips, manuscripts and images of historical advertising campaigns.
The whole exhibition perfectly illustrates Dior’s creative richness and his innovative idea of elegance. An idea that with the famous spring-summer collection 1947 and the birth of the so-called “New Look”, succeeded in revolutionizing the women’s look setting a new and graceful femininity. Curated by Florence Müller and Olivier Gabet, the exhibition is open until January 7th, 2018.
