Backstage with Almodovar

Writer

In almost 40 years of career, Pedro Almodovar has sounded out in a surrealistic, ironic, but also dramatic way, the universes of desire, passion and identity.

His capacity to perceive the human nature, sometimes allowing himself to take on melodramatic tones, has made him a cult figure and one of the most interesting and influential contemporary film directors. A book published by Taschen entitled “The Pedro Almodovar Archives” offers the reader a chance to get to know his world more closely. The book, in fact, provides a collection of images, from all of his films, taken from the backstage, selected by Almodovar himself who has actively collaborated in the creation of the book. Each film is accompanied by its original billboard, the full cast, the crew listings, an essay written by a Spanish author and by interesting reviews and comments provided by the director himself.
The book is also available in the Art Edition: Digital C-print, leather-bound hardcover, in a silk-screened box with original film strip, 410 pages.
